Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism has endorsed an ambitious new proposal from Arguendo Film, a France-based creative development firm led by Philippe Vidal, former creative director at Disneyland Paris.
The idea, revealed during a meeting at the Ministry on 23 November 2025, aims to position Siem Reap as the site of a significant new attraction that blends immersive technology with Angkor's heritage.
Angkor, located in Cambodia's northern Siem Reap province, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia, featuring ancient temples like Angkor Wat.
Vidal showcased the project alongside a team of international collaborators. The proposed tourism park aims to offer a completely new visitor experience for Cambodia—one that combines innovative storytelling and experiential design with the cultural and historical richness of the Angkor Archaeological Park.
According to Arguendo Film, the attraction could welcome up to 300,000 visitors annually.
Heritage meets tech
The aim is to increase visitor stays in Siem Reap by providing additional activities besides temple visits. It will showcase Cambodia’s cultural heritage and utilise modern multimedia tools to attract both local and global tourists.
His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, expressed strong support for the initiative, praising the Cambodian–French team behind the concept. He noted that the Ministry is prepared to collaborate to help advance the project towards implementation, emphasising its potential to strengthen Cambodia’s tourism appeal on the global stage.

The Minister emphasised that projects of this kind highlight the country’s peace, political stability, and attractive investment environment.
He also added that increased interest from international developers demonstrates confidence in the long-term vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and of His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
If realised, the tourism park could usher in a new era for Siem Reap, combining heritage preservation with innovative visitor experiences—an approach increasingly adopted by leading destinations worldwide.
In January 2024, French theme park operator Puy du Fou set out plans to develop a museum in Cambodia called 'Immersive Angkor' dedicated to the history of the Khmer civilisation, but no announcements have been made since.
