Leading 4D cinema creator, MediaMation Inc., has signed a deal with National Amusements Inc. to install a 70-seat MediaMation MX4D™ Motion EFX Theatre in the major theatre chain’s newly refurbished, 20-screen Showcase Cinema de Lux Revere location just outside Boston, MA.
MediaMation President/CEO, Alison Jamele, describes the agreement as a key step towards increasing their presence in the US cinema market. The company has installed 25 plus MX4D™ Motion EFX cinemas globally yet, so far, only one in the US at the Santa Rosa Entertainment Group’s Plaza Stadium Cinemas 14 in Oxnard, CA, outside Los Angeles.
“We are looking forward to bringing the MX4D™ experience to Revere to compliment the luxury seating and XPlus premium large format offerings in our newly remodelled theatre, ” commented Duncan Short, Vice President of Operations of National Amusements.
The Mediamation MX4D™ immersive experience is already engaging audiences in the Middle East and in countries such as Mexico and Colombia, with new theatres announced for major cinema chains in China (Wanda, Jinyi) and Japan (Toho). Multiple special effects, including moving seats, air/water blasts and leg ticklers, enhance the on-screen action for what the company describes as “a more exciting and realistic movie-going experience”.
Short adds, “We really see the future in this technology to revolutionise the cinema industry and provide a sought after new option for our most avid moviegoers.”
