Construction is underway at Neom, including The Line, Trojena, Sindalah and Oxagon.

Neom, Saudi Arabia’s $500bn ‘land of the future’, has released the first footage of its construction progress so far.

Per a press release, Neom has moved to the building phase of the project. The first luxury island, Sindalah, is due to open next year.

The video, which can be seen below, shows the building work taking place across Neom, including The Line, Trojena, Sindalah and Oxagon.

“If we are to solve the challenges of tomorrow, we must face up to them today, no matter how difficult they may seem,” said Neom’s CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr.

“At Neom, we are addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity by bringing together a community of the brightest minds committed to reimagining what a sustainable future will look like in 20 to 30 years, and building it today.

“We are redefining the future now. Neom is open for business.”

Neom will be 33 times the size of New York City. The Line is a zero-carbon city with “vertically layered” buildings for work, living and leisure within two mirrored facades.

Trojena is a mountain destination offering a ski village, ski slope, wellness resorts and a nature reserve, while Oxagon is an octagonal floating port city.

Covering an area of around 840,000 square metres, Sindalah will feature a marina, golf course, beach club and yacht club, as well as hotels and F&B outlets.

Saudi Arabia is creating myriad attractions and giga-projects as part of Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy to reduce the kingdom’s reliance on oil.

Diriyah, a $50 billion development on the edge of Riyadh, was recently confirmed as the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) fifth giga-project. It joins Neom, Red Sea, Qiddiya and Roshn.

Saudi Entertainment Ventures (SEVEN), a subsidiary of the PIF, is investing $13bn in the development of 21 entertainment destinations in the kingdom.
