Sensorama Selects Medialon Show Control for $4m Immersive VIX Ride

News

Florida-based software specialist, Medialon, has provided its show control solution for Sensorama’s new $4m immersive attraction – VIX.

Located in Shopping Praia da Costa, a Brazilian shopping mall, the ride takes guests on an undersea adventure through forbidden forests and deep ocean caverns.

The entire show and preshow is controlled by Medialon Manager V6 show control software on a Medialon Show Control Machine Pro.

“The most interesting part is that all the technology disappears when you go into the ride and it’s easy, simple and  beautiful, ” commented  Leif  Percifield, the project’s head engineer. “You don’t care how many wires, projectors and computers are involved because it’s awesome.”

VIX provides riders with a virtual reality experience via blended 4K ultra high resolution projectors and a 172m² compound curved screen. The on-screen action is further enhanced with special effects including wind, scent and water.

The attraction’s unusual environment amongst shops and restaurants required high levels of sound proofing to avoid disturbing patrons not using the ride.

Michael Sauder, VIX’s programmer, was quick to praise the adaptability of Medialon’s solution: “As I worked on the project, additional special effects were added, and Medialon’s show control software had no problem adapting to the new additions. I love the flexibility of Medialon products.”
