Super 78, the global attractions design and production studio, will be joining Microsoft at the NAB show 2019 to showcase its real-time animation technology. The demonstration is set to include an animated character interacting with the audience in real-time.

Super 78’s Geppetto technology will feature in a presentation at Microsoft’s booth at NAB 2019. NAB takes place in Las Vegas and is the ultimate event for media, entertainment and technology professionals in the attractions sector.

Geppetto is a real-time animation solution that is making waves in the area of animation production. The innovative Super 78 product powers a range of experiences around the globe, including the Shrek: Donkey Live! Attraction at Universal Studios Singapore and The Smurfs at Motiongate Dubai. It is also behind The SpongeBob SubPants Adventure, at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. While traditional animation methods can take years, the Geppetto system allows for the creation of hundreds of new shows every week.

Super 78 solutions powered by Microsoft Surface

Super 78 chose to work with Microsoft as its primary provider of hardware and services. For unique solutions such as Geppetto, Super 78 designers use Microsoft Surface devices including Surface Hub, Surface Studio, Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. This equipment powers their animation production, with its provision of beautiful displays, intuitive touch and pen input, and its powerful processing capabilities. Windows 10 and Microsoft’s Xbox game controllers allow Super 78’s designers to work on intensive animation processes and development.

“Super 78 is in the business of telling stories through animation, and we are proud that Surface allows them to build innovative solutions like Geppetto,” says Adam Lanteigne, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft. “Microsoft is excited to showcase Geppetto as part of its NAB Show 2019 presence.”

“The Microsoft Surface Studio and Surface Hub have been an important technology solution for our Super 78 clients and Geppetto is a fantastic example of that,” added Brent Young, Creative Director and Co-Owner of Super 78 Studios. “As we begin to move into more “real-time” animation production, being able to work directly with Microsoft has unlocked many additional opportunities within their product portfolio. Incorporating devices like Surface Hub was a natural solution for our digital transformation.”

Microsoft will showcase Studio 78’s Geppetto from its booth at NAB Show 2019 (# SL6716) on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 4:30 pm in Las Vegas. Microsoft will also be streaming the presentation from its booth throughout the week.

Super 78 has built on its existing offer at Moody Gardens in Texas with the creation of Reef Rescue. The interactive experience simulates a virtual dive within a beautiful 360° coral reef environment.
