Lotte World, Seoul, has announced a new interactive theatre attraction to open in January 2013. “Do You Speak Beluga?” has been created by Hollywood based design firm the Goddard Group with technology and content from Korea-based Rayglyph.
“Do You Speak Beluga?” is an interactive theatre show that will allow guests to interact, one-to-one with a digital Beluga Whale in an immersive animated adventure. This project is the second attraction to result from a multi-project collaboration between the Goddard Group and Lotte World, the first being a family flat ride, “Jumping Fish”, which enjoyed a successful debut in October.
Taylor Jeffs, the Goddard Group’s Director of Design says, “The ‘Beluga’ project comes at an exciting time of growth for Lotte World. More guests are coming to the park than ever before, so we’ve been actively working with the Lotte team to find fresh and exciting ways to increase capacity while bringing the guest experience into the 21st century.”
W.G. Choi, the attraction’s producer, adds, “’Do You Speak Beluga?’ will not only be among the most technologically-advanced attractions in the park, but in all of Korea. We anticipate this to be a very popular experience with guests both young and old.”
“Do You Speak Beluga?” is part of a year long Aqua Plaza renovation project which includes not only the innovative interactive theatre show, but also a new undersea-themed food court, located close to both the “Do You Speak Beluga?” and “Jumping Fish” attractions, which will open in late December.
Minsung Kim, Lotte World Manager of Attraction Development, says, “With the new food court, our guests will be able to enjoy a modernized dining experience, as well as an environment filled with original characters and artwork created by animation legend Phil Mendez.”
