Efteling welcomed a record number of visitors during its 70th anniversary year.

Efteling welcomed 5.43 million visitors in 2022, the highest number of guests in the Dutch theme park‘s 70-year history.

Despite a temporary closure at the beginning of last year, Efteling welcomed a record number of visitors, partly due to the park’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

As a result, Efteling also reported record financial results for last year. “2022 proved once again that Efteling matters,” said Fons Jurgens, the park’s CEO.

“We saw that the great relationship with our visitors ensured that delayed visits were made up,” he added. “The majority were school trips and annual passholders. That inspires confidence.”

Efteling kicked off its 70th anniversary with the launch of two new attractions, Sirocco and Archipel, which are part of the World of Sindbad area.

“In addition, it is extremely nice that we were able to celebrate our 70th anniversary extensively with our visitors and employees last year,” Jurgens said.

“We look back on a festive and financially excellent year with a good guest rating of 8.6 on average. This rating has returned to pre-2020 and 2021 levels.

“We achieved this together with all employees and we are proud of that.”

Efteling is now working on two new projects for 2024 – the new Efteling Grand Hotel and the upcoming Danse Macabre attraction.

This week, the park unveiled new themed area surrounding Danse Macabre, which will feature a unique ride system.

Meanwhile, Efteling is installing an additional 12,000 solar panels as it attempts to become climate neutral by 2030 and climate positive by 2032.
