Washington Perry brings a wealth of experience in strategic communications leadership

IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry, has announced the appointment of Eryka Washington Perry as its director of global communications.

Washington Perry previously served as director of communications for The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. In this role, she oversaw extensive communication strategies, handled high-pressure media situations, and developed effective crisis management practices. She also played a significant part in promoting diversity and inclusion throughout the area.

Her experience also includes leading the public records management team and managing sensitive matters whilst working as spokesperson and communications director at The Office for the Florida State Attorney’s Ninth Judicial Circuit.

Strategic communications experience

Washington Perry’s shift to strategic communications leadership has been characterised by excellence. She has over ten years of on-air reporting and news anchoring experience at two elite Orlando news stations, Graham Media Group CBS affiliate WKMG News 6, and Hearst Television NBC affiliate WESH 2 News. Her accomplishments, which include an Emmy award for journalism, highlight her dedication to quality and her capacity to flourish in fast-paced settings.

In addition to her successful career, Washington Perry is a dedicated champion for underserved communities and has been honoured with the City of Orlando’s Citizenship Award and the Women’s Executive Council Best in Communication award.

She stays actively involved in organisations such as the National Association of Black Journalists and the Public Relations Society of America, where she uses her platform to elevate and empower others. Washington Perry is now the president-elect of the Central Florida Women’s League and a board member for the TGI-Girls Empowerment Program.

As director of global communications at IAAPA, Washington Perry will work to advance the association’s mission of promoting collaboration, excellence, and safety within the worldwide attractions sector.

Earlier this month, IAAPA revealed that Craft Standard Draft Cocktails has become an official partner. The firm is renowned for its ready-to-serve draft cocktails and aims to bring high-quality cocktails to new locations with its easy-to-use draft systems.
