Japan tops Chinese tourists' wishlist with amusement parks the main attraction

Japan is the country Chinese tourists most want to visit, according to a survey by the Japan External Trade Organisation.

Of those who chose it, over 60 percent said they wanted to visit the country’s amusement parks. Attractions were chosen ahead of retail and dining. The result shows China’s increasing hunger for entertainment experiences.

Other reasons cited were politeness and quality of service.

The report surveyed 1,224 Chinese tourists in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

They fell within the medium- to high-income bracket and came from six cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

This is apparently the first time the country has topped the poll since its inception in 2013.

Out of a possible nine countries, 40.2 percent of respondents chose Japan. In second place was the United States with 39.9 percent, followed by Italy with 37.4 percent.
