Legoland New York is opening a new water playground on Memorial Day weekend. The park has also earned a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation.

The new water playground will feature waterslides and a 318-gallon water bucket. Guests will also get the chance to build and race a Lego boat.

“New York summers are hot – which is one of the reasons we’re so excited to give families a place to cool off this year,” said Legoland New York‘s divisional director Stephanie Johnson.

“We have no doubt our water playground will become the heart of the park this season with its four waterslides and new creative building opportunities for kids.

“Everything we do is for the love of fun, and we’re committed to building unforgettable offerings that will keep families coming back to our resort again and again.”

When the park opens for the 2023 season on 31 March, it will be a Certified Autism Center (CAC). Each ride will include a sensory guide indicating whether there are bright lights or loud sounds.

In addition, Legoland New York will provide online and paper sensory guides, while a quiet room for children with sensory needs will offer weighted blankets, dim lighting and tactile toys.

Last year, Legoland Florida Resort became the first theme park resort to earn a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation.

The designation includes the resort’s hotels, as well as the Legoland theme park, Legoland Water Park and Peppa Pig Theme Park.

Legoland New York has also confirmed the return of the ‘Red, White, and Boom!’, ‘Brick-or-Treat’ and ‘Holiday Bricktacular’ events. The park is introducing the new ‘Ninjago Days’ in April and May.

Located on 150 acres in New York’s Hudson Valley, Legoland New York opened in 2021. It features seven themed lands with 15,000 Lego models made from 30 million Lego bricks.
