Minifigure Speedway will be the UK’s first Lego duelling coaster

Legoland Windsor in Berkshire has announced a new duelling coaster called Minifigure Speedway, due to open at the UK attraction in 2024.

Minifigure Speedway will be the park’s fastest roller coaster to date (travelling at speeds of up to 56 km/h), as well as the UK’s first Lego duelling coaster.

The £10 million family-friendly ride features cars that race forwards and backwards on duel tracks. It also uses state-of-the-art technology and is manufactured by Zierer.

Helen Bull, division director at the Legoland Windsor, said: “Minifigure Speedway is set to get pulses racing when it opens next spring and will be the fun-seeker’s favourite amongst families.

“Not only will it be the fastest coaster at the resort once complete, but it will also offer a uniquely exhilarating experience where cars race forwards and in reverse against each other to see who will be named the winner. Keep your eyes peeled for more information coming soon.”

Legoland Windsor’s new coaster comes after the recent opening of the world’s first Lego-themed indoor golf attraction. Additionally, work is underway to develop the new Legoland Woodland Village. This will open in May 2024 with 130 lodges, 20 camping barrels, a restaurant, and a family entertainment hub.

Legoland Windsor expansion plans

Operated by Merlin Entertainments, Legoland Windsor is home to more than 55 rides and attractions, as well as two hotels.

In 2021, the park opened the £20m Lego Mythica expansion, an immersive land with rides, attractions and experiences, including the UK’s first flying theatre ride – Flight of the Sky Lion.
