New attractions from Disney and Universal always attract massive interest from theme park fans. But only a select few VIPs ever get to attend the official opening ceremonies. Anyone with a fast enough internet connection, however, will be able to witness the launch next week of this year’s two biggest new openings in Orlando.
Universal Orlando will share the opening day festivities of Volcano Bay – pictured above – from 8am local time (1pm British Summer Time/2pm Central European Time) on Thursday, May 25, via Twitter and YouTube (see links here). The webcast will include the back story of the new waterpark delivered by Universal Creative’s Dale Mason. Fans watching at home, or on their tablet/phone, will be offered the chance to win tickets to the park.
Then on Wednesday, May 31, the launch of Pandora – The World of Avatar (as pictured below) will be live streamed on the official Disney Parks Blog as from 9.25am local time. The event is expected to be attended by Avatar director James Cameron, together with other celebrities. The new themed land at Walt Disney World actually opens this Saturday, but no special activities are planned.
Neither of the VIP ceremonies will be open to the public.
