Mad Men is the latest IP to be associated with Parques Reunidos’ Lionsgate Entertainment City in New York’s Times Square.
The Mad Men themed dining and lounge experience is inspired by the blockbuster television series from creator, Matthew Weiner. Fans will be able to enjoy a night out immersed in the show’s trademark 1960’s dĂ©cor and decadence.
“Lionsgate Entertainment City celebrates so many of our greatest film and television properties,” remarks Lionsgate Senior Vice President of Global Live and Location Based Entertainment, Jenefer Brown. “It provides their fans with a unique immersive experience featuring state-of-the-art technology right in the heart of the city.”
Mad Men first aired on cable channel AMC in 2007 and starred John Hamm as main protagonist, Don Draper. The series became an instant smash-hit, finally coming to a close in 2015.
Other IPs to feature in the new attraction include: a Hunger Games flying simulator attraction taking fans on an exciting rescue mission through The Capitol; the Dauntless Challenge Course, a Divergent themed obstacle course; the John Wick: Chapter Two shooting ride where fans go head-to-head with a series of assailants; a theatre that will host a mix of 4D film and live show experiences.
There will also be virtual reality entertainment on offer, including a Nerve VR motorcycle thrill experience.
Parques Reunidos is planning 20 further IECs
Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Parques Reunidos, described New York’s Lionsgate Entertainment City as a ‘big milestone’ in the company’s strategy to develop Indoor Entertainment Centers (IECs) in shopping malls and siginificant buildings.
“Lionsgate Entertainment City will be our sixth IEC, following the five we announced in 2016 which are underway in Europe,” he added. “We hope that, through this strategy, we will develop 20 other centers in the coming years and we will become a worldwide leader in this form of entertainment.”
Branded retail and dining offerings are set to include a Lionsgate CafĂ©, the Hunger Games-inspired Peeta’s Bakery and The Capitol Confectionery. There will also be the first-ever Lionsgate Studio Store.
Lionsgate continues to grow its location-based entertainment portfolio in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Recent projects include the outdoor theme park Lionsgate Movie World at Jeju Island, South Korea.
