Meruyert theme park planned for Astana Kazakhstan

Meruyert theme park is planned to open in 2025.

A new amusement park has been proposed for Astana.

Reports suggest that the investors have purchased a 180 hectare plot of land near the Korgalzhyn Highway.  Construction costs are estimated at around $180 to 200 million.  Local firm Mega Construction in a consortium with Renovation Construction is reported to have been engaged.

The project is divided into four stages completing between 2018 to 2025.

An ambitious list of attractions have been discussed so far including a retail zone, an equestrian centre, themed areas, a water park, an oceanarium, hotels, a ski report, VR attractions, a miniature park, an artificial ice maze and thrill rides.  Themes discussed are Pirates, Old Europe and Dinosaurs.

At a planning meeting the representative of the local and European private investors, Maxim Yun is reported to have said that the first phase of the project will include family attractions, with the $40 million 26,000 sqm water park as a priority.

Kazakhstan is keen to establish itself as a exciting emerging nation within central Asia and played host to Expo 2017 Astana last year.  The country has huge hydrocarbon wealth and oil is the principal source of revenue for Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh Tourism company and the Ministry of Culture and Sports initiated the theme park project and will be backing the development with the necessary infrastructure.  It is anticipated that the theme park will attract tourists to the city.
