Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando: Attractions and interactive experiences revealed

Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando

Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando now has an opening date, and has unveiled full details of the attraction’s rides and interactive experiences.

The new destination will open on March 27, when guests will be able to explore the Sesame Street neighbourhood, including Abby Cadabby’s garden, Hooper’s Store, Big Bird’s nest, and the famous 123 stoop.

The immersive area will feature rides, wet and dry play areas and interactive experiences, as well as an award-winning daily parade, and the opportunity to meet Elmo and other characters.

Rides and attractions

Rides and attractions at Sesame Street at SeaWorld:

  • Abby’s Flower Tower – Abby Cadabby’s wand will send you soaring in colourful flower pots.
  • Big Bird’s Twirl ‘n’ Whirl – Spin in a nest of your own as you twist around in this Big Bird-themed ride.
  • Cookie Drop! – Bounce up and down in a cloud of cookie crumbs.
  • Count-Around Playground – Climb through an adventure of your own making and test your counting skills.
  • Elmo’s Choo Choo Train – This interactive, bell-ringing, horn-honking train ride features Elmo as your guide, as you spot butterflies, caterpillars and Elmo’s special friends, the Twiddlebugs.
  • Rubber Duckie Water Works – Join Ernie and Rubber Duckie through watery blasts, fountains and pop jets.
  • Slimey’s Slider – Board Slimey’s Slider for a swoop and swivel ride through Oscar the Grouch’s compost collection.
  • Super Grover’s Box Car Derby – Get behind the wheel for this box car race-themed roller coaster, packed with hills, turns and mini-dives.

Interactive play and Elmo’s Bubble Wand

Sesame Street at SeaWorld also boasts various immersive, interactive elements. Guests are invited to play a game at the bicycle shop window, create a monster of their own at the Community Center, and help Cookie Monster and Gonger to make delicious meals at the Foodie Truck.

Interactive play around the Sesame Street neighbourhood:

  • Bike Shop Tricycle Challenge – Make your way to the Bike Shop for this motion-sensing digital game. Use your body to control a virtual tricycle as you collect numbers before time runs out.
  • Two-Headed Monster Pipe Telephone – Speak into one end of the pipe telephone and hear your voice transform into a friendly monster voice.
  • Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck Challenge – Make meals with Cookie Monster and Gonger by following video instructions and pressing the correct buttons containing the recipe ingredients.
  • Laundromat – Use touchscreens on the washing machines to pop digital bubbles and figure out what kind of items are washing inside.
  • Create-A-Monster – Make your own digital monster by choosing eyes, noses, mouths, hair, clothes, and more! When you’re finished, you can find your monster on the Community Center windows.
  • Elmo Interactive Light-Up Bubble Wand – Explore and magically interact with Sesame Street’s environment.

Other interactive elements include Oscar’s Trash Can, Sesame Street Apartment Intercom, Yip Yip’s Mail Slot, Elmo’s Window, Bert and Ernie’s Doorbell, and Backstage Queue Warm-Up.

“We have all kinds of new and exciting things in this land,” Amanda Trauger, experience design manager for SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, told Fox 35.

“There is a new kid’s wet play area. It’s called Rubber Ducky Water Works featuring Ernie. We have The County and his dry play area and it’s a count-around playground. We also have a big, new parade that we’re super excited about.”

The Sesame Street-themed area for SeaWorld Orlando was announced in May last year as part of a deal between SeaWorld Entertainment and Sesame Workshop to develop a new Sesame Place theme park in the US.

The opening coincides with Sesame Street’s 50th birthday this year.
