New Theme Parks planned in Queensland as Tourism Grows

Three brand new Theme Parksare in the pipeline as tourist numbers to South-east Queensland grew by8% in the last year.

Furthermore, reports The Brisbane Times, a $15 million redevelopment of the city'sMt Cootha Park is on the cards too.

The three new parks planned are:

Australian Legends World Theme Park

China'sSongcheng Performance has revealed full plans for a$600 million "Australian Legends World" theme park at Nerang.Sited on The Gold Coast, work could begin next year and should complete in2018.

Furthermore, the Songcheng Group also plansplanning a ferry connection.


Aussie World

On the Sunshine Coast, Aussie World hasannounced major expansion plans. Thesewill involve the addition ofnew attractions andthefirst – the Bombora Bounce, Drop and Twist Tower - will open next month.In addition the facilities will also be enhanced.

An “Active Lifestyle”Theme Park

Alsoonthe Sunshine Coast there are plans for an “active lifestyle” destination project on Steve Irwin Way, about 10 kilometres on the Brisbane side of Australia Zoo.

Sanad Capital, aDubai-based company’s Australian investment unitis backing the project.This is owned byDubai conglomerate Najibi Group.The park will include awaterpark as part of theAUS$400 million ($297.3 million) attraction.

Waterpark design leaderWhiteWater Westwillcreatethe country'sbiggest wave pool for the park.The project will boastthe world’s biggestinteractive aqua play structure, (2, 000 people). Furthermore, Australia'sfirst slide-boarding area will feature, adding a unique gaming-style interactive element to the waterpark.

TheSunshine Coast Council is currently assessingadetailed planning application.
