THG Creative welcomes Dan Freedman

Continued growth of the firm’s leadership team is driving its success

THG, a creative agency specialising in developing attractions for theme parks, museums and brands, has announced the appointment of Dan Freedman as director of facility design.

The firm continues to add talent and expertise to its growing leadership team. These appointments are driving THG Creative’s success and demonstrate its commitment to providing exceptional mentorship and development opportunities.

Erik Neergaard, chief creative officer, THG Creative, says: “We are delighted to welcome Dan Freedman as our new director of facility design at THG Creative. With his enthusiasm, diligence, and extensive knowledge of themed entertainment, Dan will be able to successfully guide our teams on any project that comes his way. We look forward to working together and benefiting from his expertise. Welcome aboard, Dan!”

Vast industry knowledge

Freedman is based in THG Creative’s newly opened Orlando office. He brings over two decades of experience in the inception and conceptualization of thematic and facility projects worldwide, with a solid understanding of operational factors in a project’s early design stages and an extensive tribal knowledge of theme park components.

His contributions to major projects and clients include master planning, facility design, spatial programming, queue analysis, partner integration, and the blue-sky development of advanced ride systems.

Freedman worked for Universal Creative for more than 12 years, most recently as a facility design manager. During that time, he was able to contribute to numerous projects including well-known IPs, such as Hasbro, Nintendo, Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Illumination, and DreamWorks. Further to his role at Universal, Freedman is also a renowned inventor with numerous patents for operating components, ride systems, and restraint systems.

This industry experience has equipped Freedman with the expertise to realise complex projects.

Freedman shares: “I am thrilled to join the THG Team. In this senior leadership role, I’ll have the ability to lead, contribute, mentor and educate the team with a focus on promoting THG’s capacity to perform early inception aspects of programming and creative space planning for projects across the globe.”

Rani Bal, vice president of people, THG Creative, says: “I am thrilled to welcome Dan Freedman to our team, whose expertise in Facility Design and deep experience in the Themed Entertainment space make him an invaluable addition.  Dan’s collaborative spirit and outside-the-box thinking will be instrumental in pushing our capabilities to new heights in meeting client goals.”

THG Creative recently partnered with The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, US, on the Priddy Family Foundation Freedom Theater. This project aimed to add a more intimate attraction within the Liberation Pavilion, a new building on the campus.
