Dark Universe guests can become Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and more

Universal Orlando has unveiled the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience opening as part of Epic Universe‘s Dark Universe land in May.

The eerie experience at Dark Universe will allow guests to become their favourite Universal monster, such as Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein and the Wolf Man.

For face painting only, tickets are priced at $45 plus tax per person. For face painting and accessories, guests can pay $169 plus tax per adult or $109 plus tax per child.

Visitors “can become fashionably monstrous as skilled artisans use their talents with face makeup to experiment or transform guests into Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and more”, Universal Orlando said in a press release.

The Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience is a unique concept, comparable to Walt Disney World’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom, which turns young guests into fairytale characters.

In addition to the make-up experience, Dark Universe is home to attractions like Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Curse of the Werewolf.

Classic monsters at Dark Universe

Monsters Unchained is described as Universal Orlando’s most terrifying attraction to date. A state-of-the-art dark ride, it takes guests into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor.

During the intense ride experience through the darkness, guests will attempt to escape the Wolf Man, the Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and more monsters.

Curse of the Werewolf is a spinning family coaster inspired by The Wolf Man (1941). Guests board a wagon and venture into the forest to escape werewolves and avoid transforming into beasts themselves.

F&B locations in Dark Universe are Das Stakehaus, a dining hall run by vampire “familiars”; the Burning Blade Tavern, a dining outlet in an old mill decorated with monster heads; and the De Lacey’s Cottage food stand.

Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities is a retail venue offering monstrous merchandise.

Epic Universe opens on 22 May as Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park.
