Therme Group has announced Rainer Maelzer as its new chief entertainment officer as the company expands.

Therme Group has announced Rainer Maelzer as its new chief entertainment officer as the company expands its wellbeing resorts worldwide.

Maelzer will oversee the development of Therme Group’s next generation of recreational experiences, redefining how water-based attractions are integrated into the broader wellbeing landscape across its growing portfolio of destinations worldwide.


A pioneer in immersive, water-based attractions, Maelzer has decades of experience in the field, having co-founded wiegand.maelzer, the company behind the signature attraction systems featured across Therme Group's entertainment projects.

He previously served as president of WhiteWater and co-invented major attractions, including the award-winning SlideWheel. Maelzer has also received industry recognition for his contributions to experiential entertainment.

This comes amid Therme Group’s plans to expand its wellness resorts, with the Vienna-based company building new destinations in locations including Manchester, Dubai and the US.

In addition to his role as chief entertainment officer, Maelzer will remain closely involved with Therme Ent GmbH, the specialised innovation and project company responsible for developing and delivering Therme Group’s entertainment offerings worldwide.
