Pearls Kingdom waterpark is to open at Al Montazah in Sharjah on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, says the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

The opening of the Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park has been awaited with eager anticipation. Formerly the Al Jazeera Park, the attraction is undergoing extensive renovation to become the newest family entertainment destination for the Emirate of Sharjah.

The destination has cost over AED100 million. The waterpark, now titled Pearls Kingdom, has been developed alongside the new amusement park, Island of Legends.

Both the amusement and water parks will contain a wide range of new rides and attractions.

The waterpark was originally set to open in January. However it has been confirmed that it will now open on the first day of Eid al-Fitr (Thursday June 14th).

35 new water attractions

Pearls Kingdom will offer 35 brand new attractions. These include a wave pool that can accommodate over 200 visitors alongside a slide tower that has a variety of water slides. A new children’s slide is also being unveiled – it can carry 100 children (ages 4-14 years).

Overall, the capacity of the park has been increased to welcome 7,000 visitors.

“A phase of redevelopment works at the water park is complete, and we are ready to reopen…” said Khalid Al Qaseer, manager of Al Montazah Parks. “We are certain that Al Montazah Parks in its new avatar will redefine leisure and entertainment for the entire family. The destination is poised to be one of the most thrilling and fun-filled escapes not just in Sharjah but in the UAE.”

Al Montazah Parks closed last year so the attraction could undergo extensive expansion and development works. The aim is to provide amenities and services that meet the highest safety standards.

The second part of the offering, Island of Legends, is slated to open later this year.

Shurooq is already responsible for a wide range of environmental and cultural projects, including Heart of Sharjah, the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project, Al Qasba (with 60-metre high Eye of the Emirates wheel) and the Al Majaz Waterfront.
