Paolo Taverna is a trained industrial engineer. He brings over fifteen years of experience in logistics and operations management to his new post. He will be responsible for ensuring that Vortex’s Operations sector maintains its high standards of safety and quality while driving cost effectiveness and productivity.
Taverna has previously worked for a number of major manufacturers across southern Quebec. His most recent post was Director of Operations at ABB, following stints with Bombardier and Agropur. He approaches this new role with plans to improve efficiency through lean manufacturing and design, and process automation. It is his belief that Vortex’s growing customer base will benefit from this optimisation.
New VP will build on Vortex’s growth
Taverna enjoys new challenges and he will inspire his teams to work on collaboration and open communication in order to work smarter and be more productive. He says he was drawn to the spirit of innovation at the company. Vortex International President, Stephen Hamelin, praised the appointment of Taverna in February, saying, “Vortex has been experiencing strong growth, which translates into increasing demands on our manufacturing operations. Paolo’s extensive knowledge and track record will be significant assets in optimizing operations to ensure we continue to deliver the high level of quality customers expect from Vortex International as we grow.”
Vortex was recently awarded four International Design Awards for its new line of Water Journey elements. The experiences, Pico, Alto and Hop, are highly tactile ground-level experiences, aimed at children aged two to five.
The company has also announced the launch of a new family attraction concept called RiverQuest. The experience includes interactive and multi-sensory elements alongside the fun of a river ride.
