Kennedy Space Center Planet Play

Planet Play at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Step into another universe with Planet Play, a multiple-story, fully immersive play experience for kids at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Launching on January 1st, 2021, this space adventure engages ages 2-12 by transporting them to a new 6,000 sq. ft. world that leverages experiential play to teach kids about outer space.

Soft Play partnered with Brian Morrow Productions to turn an old IMAX theater into a fully immersive multiple-story play attraction. The goal was to convert the space to a true-to-life play experience that capture kids’ attention, promotes active imaginative play, and weaves in educational aspects throughout the experience.

The result was a sensational one of a kind experience complete with:

  • Handcrafted sculpted planets ranging in size from 90 inches to 17 feet in diameter;
  • Five different contained play towers, each one reaching almost forty feet tall;
  • Moon rocks with a foam sculpted rover toddler play section;
  • An interactive Data Quest satellite game located in Saturn’s rings;
  • A trampoline-like space-time netting inspired by Albert Einstein’s space-time continuum theory.
