World of Molecular Biology exhibition

Exhibit will open at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory at the end of 2022

The Hub, the UK’s leading specialist fit-out contractor, has helped to develop a new exhibition at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) campus in Heidelberg, Europe’s flagship laboratory for molecular life science. ‘The World of Molecular Biology’ will open at the end of 2022 and will reach and engage a large audience with the wonders of biology.

The exhibition covers 800 square metres and features more than 45 explorative exhibits. It includes new innovations and ground-breaking exhibition designs that utilise new technologies and techniques to match the evolutionary work undertaken by EMBL.

The high-quality and pioneering ‘The World of Molecular Biology’ exhibit showcases innovation and the power of science.

“A great project to work on”

“The delivery of The World of Molecular Biology showcases The Hub’s growth outside of the UK market following a successful installation at the EMBL campus, Heidelberg,” says Harry Coughlin, associate director – museums at The Hub.

“The team were entrusted by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory to work with Haley Sharpe Design to deliver an incredibly high-end exhibition within the central atrium of the newly commissioned Imaging Centre, which included complex thermoformed solid surface units, state-of-the-art AV equipment, programmable lightboxes and tactile models and interactives – the finish looks incredible, and this is one we are very proud of.

“It’s been a great project to work on from start to finish, and we’d like to thank the client and design team for the opportunity to be involved, as well as our dedicated team of subcontractors and suppliers who assisted in the successful implementation of the exhibition and bring it to life.”

The Hub has previously worked on projects for the V&A, the British Museum, the Kuwait Oil Company, the American Battle Monuments Commission, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Virgin Atlantic, the Natural History Museum and many more. The firm offers project delivery in-house for a personable and bespoke service from concept through to completion.

In the summer of 2022, The Hub announced that it has been appointed as the exhibition fit-out contractor for the Paisley Museum Reimagined project. The town museum in Paisley, Scotland, is undergoing a £42 million project to transform it into a world-class attraction. It is the largest museum project in recent UK history with a fit-out contract of circa £6.8m.
