The animal rights nonprofit is celebrating the vegan options at Disney‘s Star Wars-themed land.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s theme parks in California and Florida has won PETA’s ‘Vegan Superstar’ award.

To mark ‘May the 4th’ and the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, animal rights nonprofit organisation PETA is celebrating the vegan meals, snacks and beverages at Walt Disney World and Disneyland’s Star Wars-themed land.

Savoury vegan dishes at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge include the ‘Ronto-Less Garden Wrap’ at Ronto Roasters, which contains vegan sausage, spicy kimchi slaw, pickled cucumbers and gochujang.

The ‘Triple Suns Breakfast Wrap’ at Ronto Roasters at Walt Disney World includes vegan egg, smoky chickpea and onion slaw, and roasted tomato sauce.

Galaxy’s Edge at both resorts offers coconut-based versions of the popular ‘Blue Milk’ drink that Luke Skywalker enjoys in A New Hope, as well as The Last Jedi‘s ‘Green Milk’.

“A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away, vegans practically had to board spaceships to find animal-friendly eats, and now at Disney’s parks, they’re everywhere you look,” said PETA’s senior vice president Colleen O’Brien.

“For encouraging park-goers to gravitate toward delicious vegan snacks, sweets, and more, Disney’s parks are winning PETA’s praise.”

Per a press release from PETA, each person who goes vegan prevents nearly 200 animals from “enduring miserable lives and terrifying slaughterhouse deaths” every year.

PETA said: “Going vegan is also greener than Luke’s lightsaber, since animal agriculture, by some estimates, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the entire global transportation sector.”

Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge expansion opened in 2019. It was followed by the 2022 launch of Disney World’s new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive hotel experience.

In more news, PETA has obtained federal records revealing injuries to a dolphin and a trainer at SeaWorld Orlando.

PETA’s executive VP Tracy Reiman said the group “is calling on SeaWorld to protect both dolphins and trainers by sending these animals to sea sanctuaries – just as the Miami Seaquarium is preparing to do for orca Lolita”.
