Disney parks chairman Josh D’Amaro says the Encanto brand is among the “endless stream of stories” that could feature as part of the Disneyland expansion.
The $1.9 billion DisneylandForward proposal, which was approved by the Anaheim City Council last week, includes potential experiences based on Frozen, Tangled, Peter Pan, Zootopia, Toy Story, Black Panther, Coco and Tron, as well as an Avatar land.
An Encanto experience is the latest intellectual property (IP) to be added to Disneyland‘s list of possible attractions.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, D’Amaro said: “We will have enough room to build the equivalent of another Disneyland park.
“And so then you start to think about, ‘Well what can we do here?’

“We haven’t told anything, any stories on Wakanda. We haven’t told any stories on Frozen, although it’s a 10-year old franchise.
“You think about franchises like Coco and Encanto. We almost have an endless stream of stories that we can tell.”
Walt Disney Imagineering is also working to transform Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom in Florida into a new land featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.
As above, the DisneylandForward plan was given preliminary approval on 16 April. A final approval for the development is expected on 7 May.
The multi-decade DisneylandForward proposal sets out where and how development can proceed on Disney-owned or operated territory around its Anaheim theme parks.

Disney is to spend $30 billion on its theme parks over the next decade as part of a total $60bn investment in its parks, experiences and products division.
As part of this, the company has announced plans for “probably the largest expansion ever” at Magic Kingdom in Florida.
Walt Disney Imagineering’s Emily Dow and Caitlin Krasovic will speak at greenloop 2024, blooloop’s online conference focusing on sustainability in visitor attractions.
