The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) announced Asian Attractions Expo 2010 will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Asian Attractions Expo is the largest trade show and conference for the attractions industry in Asia. It will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia, 14 – 16 July.

Kuala Lumpur Offers All-in-One Experience
Located in the heart of Petronas’ Kuala Lumpur City Centre development (KLCC), the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre received a (Central European Initiative) CEI 2009 Industry Award for Asia’s Best Convention & Exhibition Centre. From its opening in June 2005 to December 2008, the facility has hosted 1, 800 events and contributed more than RM $1.8 billion (approximately US$500 million) to the city’s economy. The center’s 20, 059 square meters includes two auditoriums, 9, 710 square meters of exhibition halls, a grand ballroom, banquet hall, conference hall, and 20 other meeting rooms.
Malaysia’s theme parks and waterparks have a reputation for being multifaceted, and include both thrill and water rides, museums, lodging, and animal sanctuaries. Two popular parks in close proximity to Kuala Lumpur are Genting Highlands Resort and Sunway Lagoon.
Genting Highlands Resort is located 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur and features Genting Outdoor Theme Park, First World Indoor Theme Park, and a waterpark with a heated splash pool. Signature attractions at the resort include Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, the “Flying Coaster” hang-gliding ride, “X-Pedition” climbing wall, and Snow World, an indoor manmade snow house.
Only 15 minutes from Kuala Lumpur in Petaling Jaya is Sunway Lagoon, which includes a Wild West-themed park; an Extreme Park with All-Terrain Vehicles and paintball games; the Waters of Africa waterpark; Wildlife Park, which features exotic animals; and Scream Park, with scare shows and a 3D “Terror Tunnel.”
Guests at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre don’t have to travel far for attractions—the building sits above Aquaria, a 60, 000-square-foot aquarium and adjacent to the six-story Suria KLCC shopping center. Two recognizable landmarks at the 100-acre KLCC are the distinct Petronas Twin Towers. Linked at the 41st and 42nd levels by the Skybridge, the towers are visited by 1, 000 to 3, 000 people each day. Also in the area are the National Mosque (or Masjid Negara); the science-based Petrosains Discovery Centre; Central Market (or Pasar Seni), a primary resource for Malaysian arts and crafts; the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra; and just outside the city limits, the Batu Caves, caverns sitting 272 steps underground and adorned with Hindu shrines.
