Simworx 4D seats add new dimension to Oceanogràfic Aquarium theatre experience

Media-based dynamic simulation attractions specialist, Simworx, has installed 200 state-of-the-art 4D seats at the Oceanogràfic Aquarium in Valencia, Spain.

The addition of special effects seating has transformed the guest experience at the venue’s Mar Rojo Theatre.

The upgrade has also repurposed the theatre as a multi-use facility.

The new seats feature a host of effects including seat vibration, leg ticklers, back prods, water blast and air blast. Simworx has also provided a suite of theatre effects to further enhance the on-screen action. These include wind, smoke, bubbles, aroma, snow and special effects lighting.

Currently, visitors to the Oceanogràfic Aquarium have a choice of two films to watch on the 10 metre wide 3D screen.

Hurricane takes viewers on a 20-minute, 15,000km journey in the wake of the Atlantic Hurricane. The theatre’s special effects dramatically bring this natural event to life.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is aimed at families. Viewers join teenager Ned on an adventure aboard the submarine Nautilus, commanded by the enigmatic Captain Nemo. Effects include water sprays, bubbles, wind blasts and the shaking of the Nautilus deck.

Eduardo Nogues, Deputy Director of the aquarium’s operating company, AVANQUA, commented: “The venue had operated the theatre for approximately 15 years. We thought that incorporating a big screen with 3D/4D effects would improve revenues, improve the experience and increase the overall length of stay

“It has been very well received by guests of all ages. The films offer fantastic images that go well with the various effects. The public really like it.”

Simworx continues to innovate in the field of media-based attractions. It is renowned worldwide for its 4D effects cinemas and Immersive Tunnel. The company provides everything from full turnkey solutions, custom attractions, product development, manufacturing and service support, to film content and complete themed attractions.

“Simworx has provided a good service and are very proactive, so we were keen to collaborate with them,” added Nogues.
