Creatures of the Night event is celebrating its 45th anniversary

ZooAmerica in Hershey, Pennsylvania is the latest attraction to expand its Halloween experience for 2025, offering new activities and additional dates.

The Creatures of the Night event is returning to ZooAmerica for its 45th anniversary on 3 October, and will run on more dates than ever through 1 November.

To celebrate the eerie event’s anniversary, ZooAmerica is offering a special nighttime flashlight tour and new themed activities.

Starting with the flashlight tour, guests can explore the 11-acre zoo after dark, viewing the black bears, Canada lynx, grey wolves and river otters.

New activities also include a history-themed scavenger hunt around the zoo, a spooky tent where guests can see and feel the food combinations given to the zoo’s animals, a ‘find Bigfoot’ experience, and flashlight hide and seek.

Additionally, the ‘Modern Zookeeper’ exhibit will allow visitors to see what it’s like in a typical zookeeper’s office, with guests observing the keeper as they would the zoo’s animals.

Event highlights include viewing animal enrichment activities, decorating luminary bags for a display, and themed displays throughout ZooAmerica.

These include insect, skull and animal X-ray displays, as well as a wolf artefact station, and a recycled treasure display.

Halloween’s LBE expansion

ZooAmerica is attached to Hersheypark, which offers the Dark Nights event for Halloween.

Dark Nights included, Halloween events are being expanded and enhanced across the attractions industry, particularly at theme parks, as operators take advantage of the growth of spooky season.

Another zoo to improve its Halloween experience for this year is the Bronx Zoo in New York, which is providing a new pumpkin sculpture garden, a dance party for kids, a bigger candy trail, and more.
