Meow Wolf‘s fourth venue opens in Grapevine in 2023, and its fifth location launches in Houston in 2024.

Meow Wolf is heading to Texas, with two new permanent installations opening in a shopping mall in Grapevine and the Fifth Ward of Houston in 2023 and 2024.

“Malls have been such an incredible and weird part of the American story, especially for a lot of us that grew up in the ’80s and ’90s,” said Meow Wolf founder Vince Kadlubek. “It is an exciting thought that these spaces could be filled with incredible art and immersive experiences, opening a new era of opportunity for the creative economy.”

“We felt like Meow Wolf could help lead the way,” he added.

Meow Wolf‘s fourth venue in Grapevine will be located within a former big-box retail store at the Grapevine Mills shopping mall in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It will join attractions including Legoland Discovery Center and the Sea Life Aquarium.

Texas native and Meow Wolf founder Matt King said the art collective has become “a pioneer of the immersive arts and entertainment industry with a mission to build community through art”.

Meow Wolf in Grapevine and Houston

“I could not be happier to bring Meow Wolf back to the place that I grew up to be a positive addition to my first community.”

Meow Wolf’s fifth permanent exhibition is opening in the Fifth Ward of Houston in 2024. The Fifth Ward is a historical district that has been turned into an arts and cultural destination in recent years.

“Meow Wolf has always been about making art accessible to as many folks as possible, and in areas that may not have as many artistic offerings,” Kadlubek added.

“[We] could’ve easily considered areas like Deep Ellum or the Arts District, but thought this was a great opportunity to impact a whole new audience with our work.”

Meow Wolf’s latest permanent exhibition, Convergence Station, launched in Denver last year. The psychedelic attraction follows the House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe and Omega Mart at AREA15 in Las Vegas.
