2 Million Visit Thinkwell’s Sesame Street Touring Exhibit

Global experience design and production agency, Thinkwell Group, is celebrating two million visits to its touring exhibit Sesame Street Presents: The Body.

Designed, owned and operated by Thinkwell, the exhibit first opened in May 2005 at the Arizona Science Centre. Since then, it has covered 42, 000 miles visiting 22 venues in the U.S. and Canada. Originally scheduled for a five-year run, it proved so popular that it continued for another five with many venues requesting return visits. It finally closed this September.

Scott Chambers, SVP and GM of North American Media and Licensing, Sesame Workshop said the company was delighted to have worked with Thinkwell on the project to “bring unique and engaging health lessons about the body to kids and families.”

The exhibit launched to support Sesame’s Healthy Habits for Life initiative, which was created in direct response to the growing crisis of childhood obesity in the United States.

Designed to be hands-on and interactive, the exhibit was made up of three zones: Your Outsides, Your Insides, and Staying Healthy. Popular Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Grover and The Count guided users through, encouraging them to learn more about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

"Our ten-year partnership with Sesame Workshop was a wonderful experience for us and the many museums that have hosted Sesame Street Presents: The Body, ” said Joe Zenas, CEO of Thinkwell. “All of us at Thinkwell are incredibly proud to have been part of such a successful exhibit that contributed to the education, engagement, and joy of millions of visitors."

Chambers: “This exhibit could not have been a more perfect outlet for Sesame Workshop to deliver upon its mission to help all children grow smarter, stronger and kinder.”
