Diriyah has broken ground on another seven hotels

Bab Samhan, a new Marriott Luxury Collection hotel, has opened at Diriyah, Saudi Arabia’s $63.2 billion giga-project on the outskirts of Riyadh.

Situated within a labyrinth of alleyways, the hotel is the first to open in Diriyah. It offers 134 guest rooms, including 23 suites, featuring local art, books and artefacts.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed in an intimate lobby reminiscent of an Arabian home. At check in, visitors are served traditional beverages, stuffed dates, cardamom coffee chocolates and spiced fruit ice-teas in Wujar, the lobby lounge.

The hotel houses three restaurants, each showcasing the region’s cuisine. It also provides wellness experiences and health treatments at the Earthen Spa.

“We are proud to be celebrating the opening of this extraordinary and unique property – one that captures the essence of Diriyah’s proud history and heritage,” said Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of Diriyah Company.

“This is the first of 40 amazing hotels Diriyah is developing to welcome the world to our city of earth and experience world-class luxury set among a beautiful and inspirational landscape.”

A culture and lifestyle destination, Diriyah includes At-Turaif, a historical district and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“We look forward to welcoming guests who seek an unforgettable and immersive experience as they discover Saudi Arabia’s ancestral home,” said Fabrice Ducry, general manager, Bab Samhan.

As above, Diriyah will boast around 40 hotels. The project recently broke ground on seven luxury properties, which will offer a total of 877 rooms.

“At Diriyah, we are committed to offering the highest world-class standards of hospitality, and we are enormously proud to have broken ground on these seven prestigious properties,” said Inzerillo.
