Eden International and architects Grimshaw have revealed a first look at the designs for the Eden Project North in Morecambe, Lancashire.
Eden Project North will aim to connect visitors with the unique marine environment of Morecambe Bay, while also enhancing guest wellbeing. The design of the pavilions is inspired by the shape of mussel shells.
The design is a vision of a seaside resort for the twenty-first century with indoor and outdoor attractions. Key features include re-imagined lidos, gardens, performance spaces, immersive experiences and observatories.
Architects Grimshaw have been retained for the project. The firm designed the iconic Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes at the Cornwall site.
Eden Project International are also partnering with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Lancaster University, Lancashire County Council and Lancaster City Council.
Commenting on the designs, Dave Harland, chief executive of Eden Project International Limited, said, “We’re incredibly proud to present our vision for Eden Project North and hope that the people of Morecambe and the surrounding area are as excited about it as we are.
“We aim to reimagine what a seaside destination can offer, with a world-class tourist attraction that is completely in tune with its natural surroundings.”
Eden Project International’s ambitious overseas expansion plans

The company was created in 2014 to spread Eden’s message of conservation, together with social and ecological benefits, to the world.
Three Eden projects are currently under development in China with more in Australia, New Zealand and California. There is also another UK project underway in Northern Ireland.
