Audio tour management is made easier by the museum specialist

Guide-ID, the audio tour specialist, has unveiled a new service to be utilised by museums, exhibitions and galleries wanting to enhance their tour experiences.

The technology firm has created a new backend platform for museums, which allows them to easily upload their audio tours. The addition of a new text-to-speech feature allows venues to also provide audio tours in multiple languages, expanding the potential for additional visits and improved ROI from foreign audiences and international tourists.

The feature is ideal for museums with limited budgets for translation costs, making adjustments and going live easier than before with Guide-ID.

Guide-ID is made possible with its cloud-based content management system and provides audio tour templates for venues exploring using audio tours for the first time, or in need of some inspiration.

“At Guide-ID, we unlock stories,” says a company representative. “Whether about culture, art, or nature, we give objects and spaces a voice, helping people listen and expand knowledge. That is why we have created the world’s easiest audio guide.”

Distraction-free technology

Netherlands-based Guide-ID was started by Frits Polman‘s ambition to change how visitors experience museums. He aimed to open visitors’ minds and ensure that all who leave museums do so with enhanced knowledge and feeling enlightened.

“Guide-ID believes in the eagerness to learn and to be curious. Therefore we create technology that helps museums to tell stories without distracting visitors from the message.”

Prospective users can start a free trial version of the platform by visiting the Guide-ID website, and experiencing the tour editor function. Museums can test the service and stream audio tours live through Guide-ID’s mobile website.

Earlier this year Guide-ID joined forces with the Natural History Museum of Utah and Sandpail Productions for a free webinar entitled ‘The Path to More Inclusive Audio Tours: Sharing Indigenous voices and increasing accessibility at NHMU’.
