Activision Blizzard Inc. has launched a new Consumer Products division with Tim Kilpin as its CEO and President.
The ex Mattel and Disney executive will drive the company’s global growth strategy.
The intention is to expand merchandising associated with its extensive list of video-game franchises including Call of Duty, Candy Crush and World of Warcraft.
Kilpin described Activision Blizzard as a ‘global entertainment powerhouse’.
“Its combination of iconic franchises and massive audience reach offers incredible opportunities for retailers and partners,” he said.
One of its most lucrative franchises is Skylanders. The brand’s toys-to-life line has reportedly generated $3 billion in revenue.
According to Activision Blizzard, Kilpin will spearhead the development of innovative consumer products to expand and deepen audience engagement with the company’s franchises.
This will be achieved through long-term retail partnerships, high-quality products and all new consumer experiences.
To this end, Activision Publishing, Blizzard Entertainment and King Digital’s consumer product teams are also included in the new division.
