Blooloop is proud to be carbon neutral

The move to carbon neutral comes as a response to the climate emergency, and in the lead up to greenloop, Blooloop’s conference focusing on sustainability within the visitor attractions industry.

Blooloop is delighted to announce that it has achieved carbon neutrality under PAS2060 guidelines.

Blooloop’s Director and Co-Founder Rachel Read said, “We felt it was very important that we should walk-the-talk and become carbon neutral ourselves, ahead of hosting our sustainability conference, greenloop.

“I am really pleased that we have taken this step, and look forward to engaging with our stakeholders to reduce Blooloop’s emissions further, as we continue to work towards net zero. ”

Becoming carbon neutral

According to the British Standards Institution, for a business to be certified carbon neutral under PAS2060 they must not be contributing any new greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. Emissions which are produced have to be offset through a verified carbon credit scheme.

Blooloop worked with Planet Mark to measure its carbon footprint and to create a carbon reduction plan.

Where further reductions were not possible, Blooloop purchased and retired the necessary carbon credits through Gold Standard Marketplace. The CO2 and GHG related to these credits is being sequestered via the BaumInvest reforestation project in Costa Rica which, as well ecologically enriching the environment, is strongly benefiting local communities socio-economically.

Beyond carbon neutral to net zero

Blooloop is committed to playing its part in contributing to global climate action and has signed up to the SME Climate Hub and is part of the UN’s Climate Neutral Now initiative. We will be looking beyond scope 1 and 2 emissions and starting to analyse and reduce scope 3 emissions.

A key goal for us is to review our digital carbon footprint (which falls within scope 3) and ensure that our website and online events are also carbon neutral. We want our clients and attendees to be reassured that they will be treading lightly by working with us, and their participation will have no adverse effect on the environment.

Get involved – greenloop

speakers at greenloop 22 sustainability in visitor attractions conference april 19 to 20

Anyone looking to join us in taking climate action should come along to greenloop, our sustainability conference for the visitor attractions industry. Held online, on 19-20 April in Earth Week, this event brings together zoos, museums, theme parks, aquariums and their suppliers to share and learn from strategies and insights.

We have some specific sessions aimed at those starting out on their sustainability journeys, including advice and support from the United Nations! There’s something for everyone and lots of opportunities to meet like minded professionals who are dealing with the same sustainability issues.

We’ll also be donating some of our ticketing revenues to Earth Day and Project Seagrass.
