BowieElectrosonic’s Jim Bowie to be honoured with Mackey Barron Distinguished Achievement Award at InfoComm 2017 will receive the Mackey Barron Distinguished Achievement Award at InfoComm 2017 in Orlando.

InfoComm International is the trade association that represents the commercial AV industry worldwide. The Mackey Barron Distinguished Achievement Award is the highest honour given by the organisation to an industry member.

“I’m honoured to receive this recognition from InfoComm and grateful for the many outstanding people I’ve worked with over these past 30 years,” reports Jim Bowie.

“As I end this chapter of my career, it’s gratifying to see InfoComm and Electrosonic bringing so many young people into this industry.”

During his 30-year career in AV, Bowie has been committed to providing a springboard for fresh talent. In 2009, he instigated an apprenticeship programme at Electrosonic, recently rebranded as START (Systems Technology & Resource Training). The one-year paid training programme features rotations in each of Electrosonic’s core departments.

Bowie has also worked with InfoComm for many years supporting training programmes and the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) programme.

His career with Electrosonic began when he joined the company as an engineer at its London headquarters in 1987. In 1992, he relocated to the US where he opened the company’s flagship Burbank office. He has been responsible for a number of Electrosonic’s game-changing technical achievements in the theme park industry and led the company through years of profitability as President/CEO.

The company continues to go from strength to strength, celebrating an exceptional year in 2016. This momentum looks set to continue in 2017 with expanded engineering and project management teams and infrastructure growth in Burbank and Orlando.

When Bowie retires at the end of June he will take on the role of Senior Advisor to the Board of Electrosonic Group.

Founded in 1964, Electrosonic creates tailored, state-of-the-art solutions for a wide range of markets worldwide. Beyond complete integrated systems, Electrosonic provides a comprehensive scope of services including technical design, projector lamp sales, maintenance and operational support.
