“As the international gateway to New York City, we are proud to provide this virtual installation to showcase some of the city’s most treasured destinations,” said Roel Huinink, President and CEO of JFKIAT.
“The pandemic has made it more difficult for visitors to see some of the iconic locations in the city, and this experience allows them to safely see some of the best landmarks New York City has to offer when traveling through T4.”
‘This is New York’ features destinations from the five boroughs of NYC, including the Queens Unisphere, Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Prospect Park Boathouse, and the 191st Street Subway Station.

The airport attraction is hosted by JFK Airport, and was designed by Christian Rietzke and Jourdan Ferguson. It requires a smartphone and VR goggles.
PeriscapeVR opened its first location at JFK Airport’s T4 back in 2018. The Experience Centre included freestanding VR Towers with 12 stations.
“With more than 21 million annual passengers traveling across six continents, Terminal 4 is the perfect location to offer this amenity,” Edward Midgley, Vice President of Commercial for JFKIAT, said in 2018.
“T4 strives to provide passengers with the best experiences possible and PeriscapeVR will give travelers something new to enjoy while at the airport.”
Meanwhile, Singapore’s Changi Airport has expanded its attractions at entertainment complex Jewel, adding Glampcations in the Clouds.
