‘Gnosis’ takes guests to the ‘inner landscape of the mind’ to reveal their ‘true nature’.

The Museum of Future Experiences (MoFE) has opened a show called ‘Gnosis’, described as a ‘breathtaking introspective experience’ that uses virtual reality (VR) and 3D sound.

Launched on 15 April at MoFE in Brooklyn, ‘Gnosis’ is a meditative audiovisual experience that takes guests to the ‘inner landscape of the mind’ to reveal their ‘true nature’.

During the 60-minute experience, visitors are invited to contemplate the age-old question, ‘Who am I?’

“Moving the VR sound from the headphones and into MoFE’s speakers is not only a technological feat, it’s the most immersive way to experience a VR film,” said David Askaryan, founder and CEO of MoFE.

The show features two immersive works – an original 3D sound composition called ‘Forest of the Mind’ and a VR experience inspired by the ‘hypnagogic effects of the 1950s Dreamachine’.

Guests will close their eyes during the latter, which enhances the listening experience and encourages relaxation. The show finishes with the award-winning VR experience ‘Strands of Mind’ by Adrian Meyer.

MoFE specialises in experimental and immersive productions, creating sensory experiences that “bend the mind and touch the human spirit”.

The attraction is home to the only permanent Ambisonics installation in New York City. The system creates a 360-degree sphere of sound effects, music and voices around the listener.

“You won’t experience virtual reality like this anywhere else,” Askaryan said.

Last year, MoFE offered an immersive audiovisual show called Liminality, described as a ‘technologically-induced head trip’.

MoFE opened as a pop-up attraction in 2019, inviting guests to ‘reflect on the subconscious and feel the overwhelming thrill of having a hole bored through your head’.
