The European collaboration will create a new animated feature film

nWave Pictures, a multinational producer and distributor of immersive 3D/4D content, has announced an agreement with A Contracorriente Films to work on The Inseperables, which will be the Belgian animation studio’s tenth feature film. This continues a long-standing partnership between the two companies which has most recently included the forthcoming Spanish release of Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness, nWave’s latest production.

Based on an original story by Joel Cohen and Toy Story’s Alec Sokolow, The Inseparables is a new project which has been scripted by Bob Barlen and Cal Brunker, who has worked on family blockbusters such as Bigfoot Family and PAW Patrol: The Movie.

The film is co-produced with Octopolis in France, having begun principal animation in anticipation of a theatre release in the summer of next year.

nWave Pictures COO Matthieu Gondinet says: “We are delighted by this agreement which renews our association with A Contracorriente.

“We have collaborated with this trusted Spanish distributor on multiple projects and our teams have developed a strong synergy that we look forward to putting to good use.”

Expansive portfolio

A Contracorriente Films is a leading Spanish film company with a diverse roster of more than 1,500 films and series.

The group has established expertise in producing, acquiring and distributing a range of notable films, such as Intouchables, Florian Zeller’s The Father, Serial (Bad) Weddings, The Best Summer of my Life and Isabel Coixet’s The Bookshop.

A Contracorriente Films business manager Eduardo Escudero adds: “It is an honour to participate in this project with this fantastic creative team, in this production with such links to our cultural heritage.

Earlier this year, nWave unveiled Asphalt 4D: Rush Ride, a new 4D ride simulation film based on the award-winning Gameloft franchise. Gameloft provided its top-level gameplay expertise while nWave provided 3D conversion of film images to match the industry standard.
