Wevr Shared Experience Engine

Innovative immersive technology enables groups of up to 100 guests experience virtual worlds together

Wevr, a creative technology company focused on creating virtual worlds and immersive spatial experiences, has unveiled its Shared Experience Engine, marking a major advancement in location-based entertainment (LBE).

The new engine builds on 10 years of innovation in immersive technology and takes XR experiences to a new level. The Shared Experience Engine allows groups of up to 100 guests to enter virtual worlds, interact, and experience an immersive story together.

In addition, the company has announced the launch of the Wevr LA XR Lab in Los Angeles, US. The R&D and innovation lab, in partnership with HTC VIVE, will demonstrate the capabilities of the new engine.

Neville Spiteri, CEO of Wevr, says: “Our Shared Experience Engine represents a huge leap forward in how Wevr delivers immersive experiences in public spaces.

“XR experiences can now be enjoyed with friends and family in venues across cities and neighborhoods around the world. Similar to going to the movie theater, but now for good reason – having a compelling, engaging interactive experience with your friends in a way that is not possible in your own home. This is the new cinema.”

Versatile turn-key solution

The Shared Experience Engine is a comprehensive solution for IP, brands and venue operators who are seeking approaches to developing and deploying large-scale virtual shared experiences. With Wevr’s engine, guests can explore the intricately detailed immersive virtual worlds together, interact with responsive environments, and take part in group immersive storytelling experiences.

This presents new opportunities for entertainment venues, museums, retail spaces, and others looking to provide next-generation immersive experiences, and can scale from intimate venues to vast entertainment complexes without sacrificing the fidelity of the experience.

Wevr has a proven track record for innovation in immersive story design. The launch of the Shared Experience Engine reflects 10 years of pioneering projects such as TheBluGnomes & GoblinsThe Matrix and Harry Potter with Warner Brothers.

Early iterations of the engine’s capabilities were showcased at the Harry Potter flagship retail store in New York City in a sell-out experience where guests could explore the Wizarding World while interacting with friends and family.

Wevr has also partnered with leading entertainment figures including Jon Favreau, Reggie Watts, Phil Tippett, John Gaeta, and Paul Allen to consistently push the limits of what is possible in immersive entertainment.

Recently, Wevr released a retrospective showcasing its groundbreaking projects from the last 10 years, marking a decade of innovation in extended reality (XR).
