The North Carolina theme park Carowinds is expanding with six new attractions for 2018, including an 8,000 square foot play area.

Carowinds, based in Charlotte, on the border between North and South Carolina, has announced a raft of new rides and attractions for 2018.  In addition, the theme park is introducing the new Pre-K Pass, a free season pass specifically for children.

The newly expanded kids’ area (previously known as Planet Snoopy) will be called Camp Snoopy.  It will feature five new rides and a climb and play area.  It will also include a more naturalistic midway celebrating the beauty of the Carolina wilderness.

Camp Bus is the first new ride: a wacky camp bus sends riders smoothly up into the air and down.  In PEANUTS™ Trailblazers, visitors burn rubber in Jeep-themed vehicles on a small speedway.

The Kite Eating Tree takes visitors up and down a tree in a kite vehicle.  Pig Pen’s Mud Buggies features the popular Pig Pen character – visitors bounce along on a bumpy ride in “mud buggies.” Woodstock Whirlybirds is a classic ride in which guests spin around in an oversized bird’s nest.

An 8,000 square foot climb and play area called Beagle Scout Acres will also be opened. A fenced-in toddler area provides young guests with plenty of hands-on activities.

A new play hill open area will comprise a turf-covered mound with slides where small guests can freely climb and slide.  Playground wood structures provide more opportunities to slide and climb with slides and hands-on interactives.

The child care facility and Snack Shack restaurant are both due to be updated and improved.

In addition, Carowinds is introducing the Pre-K Pass for the 2018 season.  This free season pass offers complimentary admission for children aged three to five years of age throughout 2018, alongside the remainder of 2017.  Parents need to pre-register online.

“The expansion of our kids’ area along with the introduction of the Pre-K Pass puts Carowinds as a top destination for families,” says Pat Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Carowinds. “The new Camp Snoopy area joins our world-class attractions such as the record-breaking Fury 325 giga coaster and the massive Carolina Harbor water park in offering features that meet the needs of guests ranging from three to 23 to 93, providing unique opportunities for creating family memories.”

A 2018 Gold Season Pass is now available at the year’s lowest price.

Carowinds is a 400-acre theme park located on the border of North and South Carolina.  It boasts more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. These include 13 world-class rollercoasters and Carolina Harbor, a top-rated 27-acre water park.

Carowinds is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, one of the largest regional amusement-resort operators in the world.
