New hotel includes nods to every Pixar feature film to date

Disneyland has opened its new Pixar Place Hotel. The first fully Pixar-themed hotel in the US draws inspiration from films such as Toy Story, Ratatouille and Elemental.

Disney says the 479-room hotel, which has replaced Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and overlooks Disney California Adventure, includes nods to every Pixar feature film to date.

The opening ceremony was attended by Disneyland Resort’s president Ken Potrock and Pixar Animation Studios’ chief creative officer Pete Docter.

“We are looking to turbocharge expansion at Disneyland Resort over the coming years, and the transformation of Pixar Place Hotel is a demonstration of how we’re creating high-quality guest experiences infused with our most popular stories,” said Potrock.

Docter, who directed Monsters, Inc., Up and Inside Out, added: “At Pixar, our mission is to tell great stories. And nothing is more exciting than when we see those stories come to life in Disney parks.

“Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort is the perfect example – it’s like walking into a world of Pixar. It’s truly immersive, and we’re thrilled to have collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering to make such an experience possible for guests.”

Some details: the iconic Pixar ball and lamp are now welcoming guests in the hotel’s lobby as an abstract mobile of Pixar characters float above. Guests can also meet new characters like Bing Bong from Inside Out, while Joe Gardner from Soul! can be seen playing the piano.

New Pixar-style music has been composed for the hotel, and the new Stor-E gift shop, named after Pixar film Wall-E, is selling themed clothing, toys and souvenirs.

Great Maple, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, is serving dishes such as maple bacon donuts and buttermilk fried chicken. At the Sketch Pad Café, guests can grab pastries and sandwiches.

Over at the Pixar Shorts Court, guests can play games based on Pixar’s iconic shorts Bao, For the Birds, La Luna, and Burrow. This space even features the umbrellas from The Blue Umbrella.

The new hotel‘s guest rooms include pillows based on the Pixar ball, Pixar lamps, exclusive art by Pixar Animation Studios artists, and headboards with concept art from films such as The Incredibles and Toy Story 3.

The new Finding Nemo and Finding Dory-themed splash pad and pool area include the Nemo’s Cove water play area and Crush’s Surfin’ Slide.
