Europa-Park is to open a new Jim Button (Jim Knopf) themed train ride.
Inspired by Michael Ende’s much-loved children’s characters, Jim Button – Journey Through Morrowland will feature Jim and his friend Luke the Engine Driver.
Slated to open for the new season on 24th March 2018, the ride takes groups of four passengers on a three-minute immersive family experience through Morrowland.
Despite modernised ride systems on all eight of the Mack Rides trains, they will also pump out real steam and include bells that can be rung by the riders. Plenty of exciting new features are also in store, as well as newly themed backdrops.
Ride coincides with release of Jim Button movie
Promising a ‘great adventure for young and old alike’ the ride coincides with the nationwide release in Germany of new movie ‘Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver’. The film is a Rat Pack Filmproduction / Malao Film / Warner Bros. production.
“Warner Bros. Consumer Products is pleased to collaborate with Europa-Park on ‘Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver’,” confirms Stefan Hausberg, Director of Consumer Products at Warner Bros. Entertainment GmbH.
“This year marks the beginning of a grand adventure for the whole family through the imaginative world of Jim Button, Luke and Emma the steam train.”
“Michael Ende is a great storyteller who has created many worlds full of poetry and adventure in his novels,” adds Roman Hocke, a representative of Michael Ende’s heirs.
“For generations, the Mack family has been transforming fantasy worlds into exciting reality. Jim Button, with his Morrowland, has now attained a firm place among the fantastic world of this traditional family business. We wish all visitors a lot of fun!”
The movie’s director, Dennis Gansel, is equally excited at the prospect of the new attraction:
“As a big Europa-Park fan, I am extremely proud that there is now an original Jim Button attraction there! I am already training as much as one can with my one-year-old son, so that we can take a ride together as soon as possible. Morrowland, here we come!”
