Europa-park has announced another record-breaking year with 5.5 million visitors in 2016.

The German theme park went from strength to strength, investing more than 20 million euros in upgrades last year.

A key project, the new themed area Ireland – Children’s World, proved a hit with guests and created over 100 new jobs.

Another crowd-pleaser was the Happy Family VR Coastiality experience.

Major new attraction, Project V (working title), will be unveiled in 2017. Set to be Europe’s largest Flying Theatre, it is the biggest single investment in the park’s history (see construction progress below).

Guest will experience the wonderful world of pioneering aviators, Egbert and Kaspar Eulenstein. In two 16-metre high domes, passengers glide over Europe in chairlift-style gondolas surrounded by a 21-metre screen. The on-screen action will be enhanced with effects including wind, water and scent.
