The Goddard Group, a world leader in the design and development of themed-entertainment attractions, has announced four major new projects in China: “Studio City” in Macau, “Polar Ocean World” in Shanghai, “Kingdom of Poseidon” in Harbin and “Shanghai Bund” in Hangjian.
The Group is currently working on more theme parks and resorts which are now open, or under construction, in China than any other themed design company in the world.
Studio City Macau
Commissioned by Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, the $3.2 billion, Hollywood-inspired “Studio City Macau” will transport visitors into a stunning cinematic world. Scheduled to open later this year, the ‘next generation’ complex is located on the Cotai Strip, close to the Lotus Bridge immigration point and promises to establish the territory as a truly international tourist centre.
Goddard Group Founder, Chairman and CEO, Gary Goddard says, “Our collaboration with Lawrence Ho, Co-Chairman and CEO of Melco Crown Entertainment, was highly productive, resulting in one of the most exciting, dynamic and architecturally stunning integrated resorts ever created, not only in Macau, but in the world.”
Polar Ocean World
"Polar Ocean World", a marine-themed cultural park, is seen as a key part of Shanghai’s tourism plan. Expected to open in 2017, the park will be Haichang Holdings’ seventh, polar-themed attraction in China. Combining science, ecology and entertainment, the 300, 000m2 site will include 13 exhibition halls, four, large, animal-interaction plazas, four cinemas, 18 rides, space for animal-related exhibitions and parades, and a hotel.
Goddard Group Director of Design Taylor Jeffs, explains, “We have been busy creating attractions that are original and without precedent in China, by merging rides, theaters and aquatic arenas in ways that will make emotional connections with our audiences. We want our visitors to be entertained and wowed, excited and surprised, while touching their hearts, too.”
Kingdom of Poseidon
Malaysia-based KWZone Group has invested $1.6 billion into "Kingdom of Poseidon", an immersive ocean-themed attraction based on legends of the Greek sea god.
Jeffs explains: “Using a wide range of ‘real world’ 4D effects, the latest in video mapping, 3D, and other projection technologies, guests will experience an unprecedented array of undersea, oversea, and by-the-sea attractions.”
“Shanghai Bund”, opening in 2016, will be a massive movie studio and theme park resort located a few hours from Shanghai, in Hengdian. Goddard said, “The site will be able to function simultaneously both as a working movie studio and a tourist attraction.”
Jeffs states, “These attractions are based upon classic Chinese motion picture genres and styles, and are sure to make this park’s entertainment offerings truly unique.”
