Holiday World have released video footage of the first test launch of their new $22 million Thunderbird launched wing rollercoaster.

Twenty water-filled test dummies rode 14 stories high completing a full ride circuit on the first attempt.

Thunderbird, Holiday World’s first major steel roller coaster, will premiere at the theme park’s opening on April 25.

Holiday World’s president, Matt Eckert, said, “This is a huge milestone for us – Thunderbird is the greatest investment we’ve made since we opened in 1946.”

Thunderbird stats:

  • a zero-to-60 miles-per-hour launch in 3.5 seconds
  • multiple inversions – a 14-story Immelmann loop, Zero-g roll, barrel roll, and a loop 125 feet in the air
