Lai Sun Group Appoint Village Roadshow to Operate Lionsgate Immersive Experience Center, Novotown, Hengqin

Village Roadshow Theme Parks has been appointed by Zhuhai Hengqin Laisun Creative Culture City Co. Ltd., part of the Lai Sun Group, to operate Lionsgate’s first themed immersive experience center at Novotown in Hengqin, Zhuhai, China.

The new immersive experience center will include attractions, retail and dining with theming inspired by some of Lionsgate’s best known IPs including The Hunger Games, The Divergent Series and Now You See Me, as well as and three additional properties to be confirmed from around the 16, 000 motion picture and television titles owned by the global media company. The 22, 000 sq m indoor center is expected to open by the end of 2018.

Novotown, just 5 minutes from the closest Macau border, is a multi-phase development project, developed by Zhuhai Hengqin Laisun Creative Culture City Co. Ltd..  Zhuhai Hengqin Laisun Creative Culture City Co. Ltd. is 80% owned by Lai Fung Holdings Limited and 20% by eSun Holdings Limited, both members of the Lai Sun Group.  The development will feature cultural and entertainment attractions with an ambition to become a 'a cultural and creative incubator for Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan'.  Lionsgate's immersive experience center, together with a family edutainment center comprise phase one of the development which is expected to draw 5 million visitors in its first year of operation.   Zhuhai Hengqin Laisun Creative Culture City Co. Ltd. also have an agreement with iP2 Entertainment Holdings III, Inc. (the holder of a master license from National Geographic Society).

Commenting on the announcement, John Tse, Head of Hengqin Project of the Lai Sun Group, said, “We are very excited to partner with Village Roadshow, a renowned international theme park operator to manage the Lionsgate immersive experience center in Zhuhai Hengqin Novotown.  Hengqin is a perfect location to develop creative culture and tourism. Village Roadshow Theme Parks have a consultation and management agreement with Lai Sun Group to consult during the construction phase, oversee the preopening and operate the experience center for a minimum of ten years.
