Legoland California Resort and Ferrari are set to open ‘Lego Ferrari Build and Race’, a new interactive attraction that uses cutting-edge racing technology, on 12 May 2022.

The new offering puts guests in the driver’s seat as they build, test and race their own Lego Ferrari. Ahead of the launch, Lego bricks, wheels, tracks and a digital raceway are being installed at Legoland California.

Designed by Dimensional Innovations, Lego Ferrari Build and Race features technology that has never been used at any other Legoland park in the world. Guests will be able to scan their Lego cars and digitally race them through aerodynamic image analysis.

Once the car has been scanned, visitors will be able to digitally customise and modify their engine size, tire specs, power and aerodynamics. They will also get to personalise their license plates and add stickers.

“Working alongside Merlin Entertainments, Ferrari and Legoland California Resort to create this one-of-a-kind digital racing experience has been thrilling for our team,” said Tucker Trotter, CEO of Dimensional Innovations.

“Harnessing the power of Ferrari, children of all ages can customize their unique Lego race car and compete for the fastest lap time on a virtual racetrack inspired by Pista di Fiorano. Buckle up and enjoy the ride at Legoland California!”

Using a touchpad to control their racing cars and a boost button to accelerate, racers will have three laps to set their fastest time. Additionally, overhead monitors will provide a bird’s-eye view of the race.

Legoland California Resort is home to the Legoland California theme park, as well as the Legoland Water Park, Legoland Hotel, Legoland Castle Hotel and SEA LIFE Aquarium.

Legoland California boasts more than 60 rides, shows and attractions, including the new Lego Movie World land.
