London Paramount Entertainment Resort Signs Development Agreement with BBC

BBC's best loved content to feature at London Paramount Entertainment Resort.

London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), the company that, in partnership with Paramount Pictures, is behind London Paramount Entertainment Resort, has signed a Development Agreement with BBC Worldwide.

London Paramount Entertainment Resort is a multi-billion pound new entertainment resort development located in North Kent.  Plans for the resort, potentially set to open in Easter 2020, include a world-class studio theme park, the largest indoor water park in Europe, a 2, 000-seat theatre with regular ‘West End Quality’ shows, a range of hotels, indoor event space and a hub for the UK creative industry.

The Development Agreement is the initial stage towards a formal partnership with BBC Worldwide which would see some of the BBC’s best loved content from TV and radio feature at London Paramount Entertainment Resort.

Commenting on the announcement, David Testa, Director of LRCH, said, "We are delighted to bring the world's leading public service broadcaster on board this project. The BBC has played an instrumental role in shaping the British entertainment industry for nearly a century, creating some of the most iconic and cherished characters on TV and radio. It seems only right therefore that its programmes will be present at the new London Paramount Entertainment Resort, which will combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture.”

Stephen Davies, Director Live Events, BBC Worldwide, added, “We’re always looking for opportunities to extend fans’ enjoyment of their favourite shows and the idea behind this resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture.”

LRCH has an agreement already in place with Paramount Pictures, allowing access to over 3, 000 films including such iconic movies as Mission: Impossible, Star Trek, The Godfather and The Italian Job.  Having moved away from the role of theme park operator, in recent years Paramount has sought to leverage its IP portfolio as an active partner in branded theme park developments, hotels, attractions, shows and restaurants.

Mike Bartok, Executive Vice President Parks & Resorts, Paramount Pictures, said, "It is outstanding to be working with a globally recognised brand with such a rich, respected history. We see London Paramount as a pioneer in the delivery of an outstanding partnership entertainment experience."
