New Version of Popular U.S Disney Attraction Soarin’ Debuts in China

News

Disney is launching a next-gen version of its popular Soarin’ Around the World attraction at Shanghai Disney Resort in June.

The immersive experience is then slated to premiere at Epcot Theme Park, Walt Disney World Resort, on June 17th.

Created by Walt Disney Imagineering, the aerial adventure propels guests on a multi-sensory journey above some of the world’s most iconic landmarks including The Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Using high-definition, laser-projected footage and the latest motion-based ride technology, Soarin’ Around the World elevates 87 guests at a time, 40 feet up into an 80ft projection screen dome.

The panoramic experience is further brought to life with a specially created soundscape and even subtle scents. The musical score, composed by Bruce Broughton, has been based on the original Soarin’ score by the late film and television composer Jerry Goldsmith, and performed by the London Studio Orchestra.

In China, the attraction is being renamed Soarin' Over the Horizon, deemed as more appropriate to its location in Adventure Isle at Shanghai Disneyland.

At Epcot Theme Park, guests will benefit from a third theatre and re-imagined interactive queue.
